lemon tree socks
knit project: lemon tree socks (simple 2 x 2 ribbed pattern)
difficulty (1-5): 1.2
size:women's small (64 stitches, long tail cast on)
yarn: lana grossa's meilenweit cotton fun & stripes in 336
knitting specs: US 1 cir.
these colors reminded me of 70's fashion. shoes, too. i think i would wear them a lot this fall. with a semi politically incorrect t-shirt and a pair of jeans.
did you notice the colors are in complete reverse of each other? i forgot that i've re-wound one of the skeins. it doesn't bother me, i like the blue and yellow toes. that's more 70's irreverence for you.
socktoberfest is kicking off with this pair of lemon tree socks i started back in the spring. i never wear socks in spring/summer anyway, it is good timing. these socks do look/fit a little big. it's probably because of cotton.
so jeans... i'm quite bewildered how expensive these things have gotten, can't get a decent pair without spending some serious money now. i'm going to get me a pair of nice jeans anyway. any recommedation on a brand? for a petite person like myself, i hope i can find a decent pair without having to re-hem them. yikes.

Those look like great, comfy socks - I really like that they don't match exactly! Good luck on the jeans hunt - I've been avoiding doing that like the plague....not enough money or willingness to try them on!

cute! I love the little mismatched toes, so fun.
as for jeans, I haven't had any I haven't had to get hemmed. BUT I do love joe's jeans, blue cult, sevens, and yanuk.

I love the colors in those socks. I don't have specific jean recommendations - I think I'm less petite than you! (But I still have to get some hemmed.) I would definitely say to go to the outlets, though - why spend so much on denim?

The socks are in such happy colours!

I love those socks! The colors are so happy and fantastic, and I really adore the way they don't quite match (my socks never match at the toes, anyway, because my feet are different lengths).

I really like the socks, expecially that they are not an exact match - but they are close enough that they look like they belong together. I don't find this an easy thing to accomplish. Congratulations!
About jeans, I've found the best place to find jeans is a western wear store and search the men's jeans shelves. I've found I can get a reasonably priced pair of jeans that I don't have to hem. When I'm traveling, expecially in cattle country I try and find a western wear store in a medium sized town. They have almost every size available!

Oh those are fun!
I highly recommend the Gap Long and Leans. They come in petite too.

If you have to chop off six inches from the inseam of the jean you regularly buy, I wanna know what brand they are! All my regular jeans are always at least two inches short . . . have to go buy jeans in the men's department to keep from looking like a bad highwater dream from the 80's!

Beautiful socks!! They go so well with the sneakers, too. =) Sorry, I don't have any recommendations for jeans...I buy mine from girls section of Gap.

Well, after your previous post saying you hardly think socks count as real knitting, I must say I think these socks refute that. They're wonderful, and I like the mismatched colors.

Ditto Rachel. After the last post, I'm very surprised to see socks here. They're very nice. :)

Cool socks with cool shoes. Yes politically incorrect t-shirts with jeans will be so cool!
Jeans... hmmm... how about the beckham ones...

I love those colors! So perfect to perk you up in the midst of winter! For jeans, I can't even imagine spending $100. I bought my two favorite pair of jeans from American Eagle three years ago for $25! And they come in short. You should at least go check it out.

The new socks are classic! Love the colors and the mismatched toes. They look great with the shoes too ;)
Thanks for being a part of Socktoberfest, Blossom!

I wear American Eagle brand. They fit my small body well. They are cheaper than most. But they are made of cheap denim. At least the stretch variety feel like cheap denim.

Cute socks! I really like the colors. How about Lucky jeans? They come in different lengths. So do Abercrombie and Gap jeans. The Gap. Heh. I also like Citizens and Sevens, but with those you'll have to do some hemming.

Yummy socks! I am knitting my first pair....great blog! I came over from Two sticks and some string!

I'm petite too, and I buy my jeans at American Eagle because all the other brands I've found that carry petite sizes are more expensive. Just stay away from the stretch hipster jeans going for 24.50 at their online store... you definitely get what you're paying for.

Nice socks! If you buy nice jeans at Saks or Nordstrom or somewhere like that they will hem them for you, and keep the original bottom so they still look good. You probably already know how to do that yourself though. I always have to have my pants hemmed, but I usually do the jeans myself because a lot of places don't know how to do it properly. I found a nice pair at Banana Republic for $35 - they have petite sizes, too. Good luck! :)

Great socks! I made socks from that same yarn a few months back - they were a chevron pattern. How did you like working with 100% cotton sock yarn? I love how soft they've gotten, but I wish they had more memory.
As for jeans, I'm 5'2", so I feel your pain. I find that Old Navy and Gap have decent lengths. Old Navy ones run strange, though - some petites are too short on me, yet some regular lengths flop around my toes. You just need to be wiling to try on a whole lot of jeans. J Crew has nice jeans, too, but they can be $$.

The only pair of jeans I've ever found that didn't need to be hemmed are James cured by Seun. My favorite pair is by Yank, although they definitely had to be chopped to fit. Check out overstock.com, bluefly.com, Century 21 or Filene's Basement. You can get nice pairs of jeans for around $40 - 70.

I have trouble finding jeans too-- for the opposite reason though, I'm tall. LL Bean has some really nice slight low rise bootcut jeans with some girly but classy embroidery on the pockets. And they come in short sizes too. When I went a few days ago, it was buy one pair, get one half off. Good luck with your search!

I love the socks. They're just perfect. I have the opposite problem with jeans (they're never long enough), but I hear on the cost. Yipes.

jeans- I'm 5'1 and have the same problem. Delia's (www.delias.com) sells jeans in different lengths and they (gasp) even have a few that don't flare out so much.
great socks, by the way!
